What We Do
We’ve been offering our custom woodworking services to clients in the Ottawa area for over 20 years. While Marty started out as a cabinet maker by trade, both Jake and Marty worked in the stair industry before starting Campbell’s Woodcraft. Now, with two decades of experience running our own business, we’ve expanded our offerings to include just about anything made of wood. While we can’t compete with big box stores for basic projects, if you need a project to be custom tailored to your needs, Campbell’s Woodcraft can do it and do it exceptionally well.
-
Have a carpeted stair you wish was hardwood? Looking to match it to your hardwood flooring? This has been the bread and butter of Campbell’s Woodcraft since we started. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone in the city who has more experience doing stair recaps than us. Give us 3-5 days and we’ll give you a before and after worthy of your Instagram feed.
-
Does your home still have the original colonial style handrail installed by the builder in the 90’s? Are you looking for a more contemporary look? Maybe it’s just old and wobbly. We can remove the old one and install a stunning new handrail in no time. Wood, metal, or glass; we install them all and can guide you through the options to make the process effortless (on your part anyway, it’s still a ton of work for us).

Marty is actually licensed cabinet maker by trade and though we don’t do as many full custom kitchens as we used to, we still take on a few every year that excite us. Most of our current cabinetry work consists of built-in wall units and custom furniture cabinets. We love adding our signature touches to these projects and seeing how much they can elevate a space.
-
Fireplaces, floating shelves, toy boxes, urns, bookshelves, and everything in between; if it’s custom and made out of wood, odds are that we’ve built it. Sometimes the little projects are the most fun, but bear in mind that quality, custom work is expensive, even for little projects. If you need something that is a little outside the box or to suit a very specific need, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
While we travel throughout the Greater Ottawa Area, a large portion of our custom stair and cabinetry projects are located in Stittsville, Westboro, and Manotick. We also frequently serve clients in Kanata, Riverside South, Barrhaven, and Orleans. If you are located in the greater Ottawa valley—Almonte, Carleton Place, Richmond, Smiths Falls, Merrickville, Kemptville, or anywhere else close by—please reach out! We love working in the communities we’ve supported for over 20 years.
-
Yes! We offer dedicated discounts for Canadian service members, first responders, and our repeat clients. We might sharpen our pencil behind the scenes if your project is unique.
-
Once you reach out with your project details, we provide a rough estimate or request more info. If you're ready to move forward, we provide an official estimate. After a 50% deposit is received, we order materials and schedule your install dates. We complete the work within the agreed timeframe, you pay the remaining balance, and we all celebrate a job well done.

Renovations are a process! For stair recaps, the first day is the loudest and messiest as we remove old materials. We tidy up daily, and from day two onward, it’s usually quiet enough for you to work from home. Most of our heavy cutting is done outside to keep your interior as clean as possible. For handrails and cabinetry, only the initial removal is particularly loud or messy.
-
No. While we like someone to let us in, you don't need to stay. It will only ever be the owners—Marty, Jay, or Jake—in your home. We find that a quick chat at the start or end of the day is helpful for project updates, but it’s not required.
-
No, bring us all the pets. Dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, goldfish, potbellied pigs, alpacas, and miniature horses are more than welcome to watch us work and interrupt us at every opportunity. Maybe leave the Wyverns out back though.

Just Contact Us with a few details. Photos are especially helpful, allowing Jake to give a rough estimate quickly.
Client Appreciation Discounts
We truly appreciate our clients and like to express that in two tangible ways. First, we offer a military discount for Canadian Service Members as well as a discount for First-Responders. The discount scales according to the size of the job, but starts at 10%.
We also automatically apply a discount to repeat customers. The more work we do for a client, the higher the discount. We reserve the right to forgo this discount if the client was previously a pain in the ass.
Official Warranty & Insurance
It has always been important for us that clients feel comfortable having us work in their homes. We are fully licensed, insured, and WSIB compliant. It is equally as important for clients to know that we stand behind our work. We have never advertised our work anywhere and have no intention of doing so (though we’ll probably need to advertise our new store/products at some point). Word of mouth and our reputation are the only way we bring in business. Officially, all of our work is guaranteed for one year. Unofficially, issues with our work arise so infrequently that we urge clients to reach out any time if something comes up. Even incidental damage can frequently be repaired without us having to charge a client.
On-Site Repair Work
Though not a part of the business we make much profit from, we believe in helping where we’re able. We have extensive knowledge when it comes to repairing damaged stairs, railings, and cabinetry. There are few companies locally that do and are willing to take on small repair jobs, leaving customers to the mercy of DIY fixes or inexperienced handy men and general contractors. As a result, we do offer repair services and charge a flat rate for them. $150 plus tax for the first hour and $100 plus tax for every hour after that. If we need to return on a separate day, that day starts with the $150 charge.
